Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.
A family member told me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much success on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
They have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.
But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
