Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
