Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
