The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The track blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
