Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in DC.

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
