The British government is set to progress with employing the full worth of seized Russia's assets to support the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to come to the table.

They added that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

UK restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russian assets since the Russian government launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had only been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He stated that more measures soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This statement follows European officials met in the Danish capital recently to discuss utilizing seized Russia's holdings for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to seize or employ immobilized Russian funds, based on media sources.

The total of immobilized Russia's assets in the European Union is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

The Russian government executed widespread missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on recently, causing blackouts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Two people were fatally injured and at least 20 people were injured in the strike, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a message on an online platform subsequent to the strike, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the US, EU, and the G7 - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and applying restrictions," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl scheme, under which Nato countries purchase weapons from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce additional restrictions on Russia.
